The Minelab GPZ 7000 reviews are in, and users are raving about the unsurpassed sensitivity and depth of this detector. How deep? The GPZ depth capability has been finding people nuggets multiple feet down and it’s 40% deeper than the GPX series!

Get ready to breeze through the worst detecting ground conditions that other detectors can’t handle. The Minelab GPZ 7000 frequency is configured to operate at 3.675kHz and has superior technology that gives you a competitive advantage over all other detectors in the worst mineralized soil. Minelab offers a fantastic GPZ 7000 warranty that covers the control box & coil for 3 years, and they excel in customer service.
Easy to Use and Swing
Enjoy the freedom of the wireless headphones and swing in peace and quiet because the GPZ 7000 uses the newest noise immunity technology to block out unwanted sounds and let in all those good old gold tones.
The GPZ 7000 weight is 7.32 lbs and it comes with a Pro-Swing 45 Harness that redistributes the detector weight for less stress on your body and more time swinging. The harness is adjustable and comes with some great accessory pockets. Anytime your detector runs out of steam, you can use the GPZ 7000 rechargeable battery pack. If you're looking for a GPZ 7000 control box cover or case, these are all available.
Finally, the camlock shaft is easy to adjust for your height preference, or pack the detector up quickly for a trip into the gold country.
Weatherproof
The GPZ 7000 GPS navigation platform allows you to save your favorite hotspots, and easily map out territory so you don’t miss any good ground. Rain, wind, snow, or shine, the GPZ 7000 is weatherproof and ready to hunt in anything. Settings are easily accessible, guided, and simplified for both novice and expert detecting.
If you want a GPZ 7000 coil cover, they are available, however, the coil itself has a decent scrub plate, and it is waterproof up to 1m (3 feet).
GPZ 7000 Ground Balance
When Ground Balancing the GPZ 7000, Minelab recommends keeping the coil 3cm above the ground.
Beware that users have reported blind spots that occur when running in manual ground balance vs auto, or sem-auto. These might arise as false signals or blips in the threshold. This is due to the way the detector adjusts itself when the ground conditions change.
The auto ground balance of the GPZ 7000 can also lead to some masking of targets as users have reported that it lets more ground noise in, thus creating more opportunities for good signals to get lost. Users have reported using auto-ground balance with auto-smoothing off as a better option here.
The most popular and effective GPZ 7000 ground balance has so far been reported to be semi-automatic. By using the Quick-Track button the detector is able to eliminate much more ground noise, allowing more good signals to come through without interference.
Is the Minelab GPZ 7000 Worth The Money?
Just go to GPZ 7000 YouTube videos and watch people picking nuggets out like candy.
When comparing the GPZ 7000 vs. GPX 5000 or the GPZ vs. the GPX 4500, users have reported that the GPZ 7000 outperforms both detectors on certain sizes of gold in different soil conditions. Especially when it comes to the GPZ 7000 depth, users are reporting that other detectors just cannot compete to get the same-sized gold nuggets.
When comparing the GPX 7000 vs Garrett ATX, users report an obvious win for the GPX 7000. That is not to say that the Garrett ATX is a bad detector, however, it should be fairly compared to other detectors within its price range. Generally, the ATX is suited for different detecting conditions as well, it’s even popular amongst some relic hunters.
For this reason, it is also not very wise to compare the GPZ 7000 vs Equinox 800. The Equinox 800 is an incredible machine and has a gold mode, but it is not a pure-bred gold machine, and thus it is not fair to compare it to one. That said, users have shown GPZ 7000 youtube videos of comparisons, and the Equinox 800 certainly holds its own in gold country.
GPZ 7000 Best Settings
The best place to start when considering the GPZ 7000 settings is in your general default. New users have a tendency to have FOMO or anxiety about missing gold. Don’t worry, there’s a reason for the GPZ 7000 price, and the general settings are more than sufficient, to begin with.
The GPZ 7000 gold detector has a High Yield, General, and Extra Deep mode. The high yield will bring in the smaller nuggets while the general and the extra deep modes will dive deeper for the larger gold. That’s not to say high yield mode won’t get you big gold, it’s just designed to seek out a greater variety of sizes. So if you’re somewhere you know is known for smaller gold, perhaps consider sticking with high yield. Otherwise, general mode is a great place to start with the GPZ 7000 settings.
GPZ 7000 Advanced Settings
As for more advanced settings users report that running in high sensitivity isn’t always the best. The GPZ 7000 sensitivity is so hot, it will report every little thing that’s in the ground. Advanced users have preferred to keep audio smoothing off. Users suggest spending time in both difficult and normal and see how they fare in your soil conditions. Advanced users suggest experimenting between high yield and general modes because their performance will vary depending on your personal soil conditions. Extra deep is the least often used.
Users report slowly increasing their gain level with experience.
The GPZ 7000 volume is also very different in that it amplifies targets found in a unique way. In the lower ranges, volume on the GPZ 7000 will make smaller targets soft, medium targets will be in the middle, and strong signals will sound out loud. However, if the volume on the GPZ 7000 is increased towards 20, all signals will become more prominent, making small targets easier to hear, but mid and high-range targets just sound the same (loud).
Finally, no user should completely put their trust in anyone expert's settings, they should experiment and test settings for themselves in their particular soil conditions and put time on the GPZ 7000 to give them more experience and better results.

Extreme Gold Depth So how deep can you go? Well, up to 40%* deeper than the GPX series. Old gold fields are new again, thanks to the revolutionary new ZVT technology. Minelab takes you much deeper than ever before!
Maximum Gold Sensitivity The incredible sensitivity of the GPZ 7000 with the Super-D coil gives you the ultimate advantage in the field. Find gold others have missed, from sub-gram gold through to those elusive 'retirement nuggets" still out there.
Precision Ground Balance Most gold is buried in the "difficult" ground that many detectors can't cope with. The GPZ 7000 accurately 'balances" and automatically 'tracks' to even the most severe ground conditions, with ease
Enhanced Noise Immunity The outstanding noise immunity of the GPZ 7000 enables very smooth and quiet detecting. With 256 Noise Cancel channels, the GPZ 7000 picks up less atmospheric noise. Listen to the gold, not the noise interference!
Simple Menu System The easy-to-use Menu Pages group similar functions together under Detect and Map sections, with all settings quickly accessible. Use the Guide Sequences to get started. You don't need to be an expert to find gold!
Wireless Audio Freedom Detect without your headphones attached to the detector. With the WM 12 Wireless Module, you have the choice of using the speaker, the supplied headphones, or your headphones.
