UPDATE! Casey has diminished and changed the contour of his shovels so they are now 10X better!

You can see there is now a 10/20-degree angle on them which gives you some more width when digging your plug.

Casey has engineered these contours for very specific reasons and they have been tested and proved to be a better design.

Excalibur Shovels are above and beyond the best metal-detecting shovels out there. Casey, the owner, does most of the work BY HAND! They are the lightest shovels on the market and are made of extremely high-quality lightweight aircraft steel. 

The steel handle is coated in a non-slip textured powder coating. The steel has an HRC rating of 49/50 which is higher than high-carbon steel (which most manufacturers use). 

The shovels are heat-treated, and then tempered, which allows the steel to have some flexibility. The Japanese did this thousands of years ago with their master sword craftsmanship.

Q: Will my blade be subject to bending with the new design? 

A: No. The way Casey makes these shovels the blade will break before it bends. As we stated above, these are the highest-quality steel shovels you can get. They put under extensive testing and an enormous amount of care and science is behind the new design.
